Service to Allow Two Cell Phones to Use the Same Number

Service to Allow Two Cell Phones to Use the Same Number

As it stands now, cell carriers do not allow you use the same phone number across multiple devices, unless you swap SIM cards. For this new service, you could have an AT&T iPhone and a Verizon Android device and they could both share the same number interchangeably. In an area without AT&T coverage? No worries, just use your Verizon phone. Can’t decide between using Android and iPhone? No worries, you can use both without sacrificing using an unknown number on one device.

Now you can already halfway accomplish this using a service like Google Voice on both devices, but it comes with a bunch of compromises. For example, you could not rely on using iMessage through Google Voice or any native messaging service/app on the device.

This service would also make losing your phone a lot less painful, just always have an old phone as backup, already connected to your primary number.
