Introduced in 2001, Hawk-Eye is a computer and camera system to track the trajectory of a ball in sports like Tennis. This new product would accompany Hawk-Eye and provide a real time visual clue as to where a ball just landed.
For example, after a serve is hit, the ball lands right on the line. Using Hawk-Eye, the system would know exactly where the ball had landed and then a projection system would provide a visual clue on the court surface as to where the ball had just landed. The projector would show the position of the ball (maybe for 1 or 2 secs) and provide the player an immediate confirmation whether the ball was in or out. No more stoppages in play during professional events to view the instant replay.
