We nearly started two house fires in the past month when someone knocked one of the electric stovetop knobs into the ON position inadvertently. One time it set a nearby bag of chips on fire.
This new stovetop would sense when no pan or skillet was placed on top and issue a warning when the stovetop is getting hot.
